With the cold-process method we take our selected oils and butters then mix them with lye water. This starts the saponification process, this is just a fancy word for the chemical reaction that happens when the lye water and oils mixture, start to make a new substance, Soap.
When the onset of saponification happens, we add our other ingredients, like lavender buds, colorants and fragrances. We then pour our raw soap into lined wooden molds, that we cover with towels to insulate it, ensuring that it continues the saponification process.
After 24 hrs. the soap has set up and hardened. We then take the soap out of the mold and hand cut the log into bars, from there they are sent to the curing(drying) racks for a minimum of 4-6 wks, to eliminate excess moisture resulting in a hard, long lasting, gentle bar of soap.
All of our soaps retains its natural glycerin content which is a byproduct of soap making.
Glycerin, a wonderful natural moisturizer, is stripped out of commercially bought soaps to be sold to other companies.
